Which HP laminator should you buy?

The shortest honest answer for each situation.

Home, occasional use, A4 documents

HP OneLam 400 A4

The cheapest way into genuine HP lamination. 400 mm/min is ample when you laminate a few sheets at a time, and it is light enough to store in a drawer.

School or classroom, large format

HP OneLam 400 A3

Laminates A3 posters and charts as well as ordinary A4 worksheets, without stepping up to a professional-speed machine you would not use.

Crafts, signage, anything you also need to cut

HP OneLam Combo A3

The only model with a built-in paper trimmer and corner rounder. Laminate, cut and round the corners on one device instead of three.

Busy office, shared A4 machine

HP Pro Laminator 600 A4

At 600 mm/min with a ~1 minute warm-up, it keeps up with a queue of people. The touch panel and reverse function make jams a non-event.

Office or studio needing professional A3

HP Pro Laminator 600 A3

Pro-grade speed and controls at A3. The right pick if you laminate large format regularly rather than occasionally.

A3 vs A4 laminator: which size do you need?

An A4 laminator takes documents up to 210 × 297 mm — standard letters, certificates, ID cards and menus. An A3 laminator takes up to 297 × 420 mm, exactly twice the area of A4, and still laminates every smaller size. Buy A3 only if you actually laminate posters, classroom charts, plans or double-page spreads; if everything you laminate fits on a normal sheet of paper, an A4 machine is smaller, lighter and cheaper.

Choose A4
Documents, certificates, ID cards, recipes, menus. The most common choice for home and small offices.
Choose A3
Posters, classroom material, notices, drawings, plans. An A3 machine also laminates A4 and smaller — never the other way round.

What do 75, 80 and 125 micron pouches mean?

Micron is the thickness of each side of the laminating pouch. Every HP laminator we sell accepts 75–125 micron pouches. Thinner pouches are cheaper and stay flexible; thicker pouches are rigid and far more durable. Use 75–80 micron for documents you will file or hand around, and 125 micron for anything that will be handled constantly or displayed — menus, ID cards, signage, teaching aids.

75–80 micron
Flexible, economical. Certificates, notices, documents kept in a folder.
125 micron
Rigid and hard-wearing. Menus, ID cards, signs, anything handled daily.

What does hot and cold lamination mean?

Hot lamination melts the adhesive inside the pouch with heated rollers and gives the strongest, clearest seal — it is what you want for almost everything. Cold lamination seals with pressure alone and no heat, which is the only safe option for heat-sensitive originals: thermal-paper receipts, old photographs, some inkjet prints and certain vinyl or glossy stocks. Every HP laminator in this range does both.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what people ask before buying laminators in the UAE.

The HP Pro Laminator 600 A4 for standard documents, or the Pro Laminator 600 A3 if you also laminate large format. Both run at 600 mm/min, are ready in about a minute, and have a touch panel and reverse function — the features that matter when a machine is shared. The OneLam 400 range is better suited to home and school use.

Speed and controls. The OneLam 400 laminates at 400 mm/min and is a straightforward one-touch machine for occasional use. The Pro Laminator 600 laminates at 600 mm/min, warms up in about a minute, and adds a touch panel and a reverse function for clearing misfeeds. Both handle hot and cold lamination and the same 75–125 micron pouches.

A4 covers documents up to 210 × 297 mm, which is most things people laminate. Choose A3 (up to 297 × 420 mm) only if you regularly laminate posters, classroom charts, notices or plans. An A3 laminator also laminates A4 and smaller, but an A4 machine can never take A3.

The HP OneLam Combo A3 is the only model in the range with a built-in paper trimmer and corner rounder, letting you laminate, cut and round corners on a single device.

Yes. Every unit is genuine, brand-new and sealed in original HP retail packaging, manufactured in Germany by GO Europe GmbH under licence from HP. All machines carry a 2-year warranty supported locally in the UAE.
