Which HP shredder should you buy?

The shortest honest answer for each situation.

Home desk or a one-person office

HP OneShred 8CC

Eight sheets at a time is enough for personal post and statements, and it is quiet and compact enough to sit next to a desk.

HP OneShred 8CCView details →

Small office, everyday paperwork

HP OneShred 12CC

Twelve sheets per pass at P-4 clears an ordinary day of invoices and letters without a queue forming at the machine.

HP OneShred 12CCView details →

Office with steady daily shredding

HP OneShred 15CC

Fifteen sheets and a larger bin, so it needs emptying less often than the 12CC for the same amount of paper.

HP OneShred 15CCView details →

Confidential documents — client, HR or legal data

HP OneShred 12MC

P-5 micro-cut turns each sheet into 2 × 12 mm particles, roughly five times smaller than cross-cut. It also destroys CDs.

HP OneShred 12MCView details →

Confidential documents, higher volume

HP OneShred 16MC

The same P-5 micro-cut security as the 12MC but 16 sheets per pass and a ~30 L bin — micro-cut fills bins fast, so the extra capacity matters.

Busy office, high volume, standard confidentiality

HP OneShred 18CC

Eighteen sheets per pass with a ~30 L bin and a continuous-duty motor, built to run rather than to sit idle.

Highest volume — shared floor or department

HP OneShred 24CC

Cross-cut vs micro-cut: which shredder security do you need?

Cross-cut shredders cut paper in two directions into confetti-like particles and reach security level P-4 under the DIN 66399 standard. Micro-cut shredders cut the same sheet into far smaller particles — 2 × 12 mm on the HP OneShred MC models — reaching P-5. P-4 is the right level for everyday business paperwork: invoices, HR letters, contracts, bank statements. Step up to P-5 micro-cut when the documents would genuinely harm someone if reassembled: client data, medical records, payroll, legal files, board papers.

P-4 cross-cut
Standard confidential business documents. Faster, larger sheet capacity and a bin that fills more slowly for the same amount of paper.
P-5 micro-cut
High-confidentiality documents. Particles are roughly five times smaller, so reconstruction is not realistically possible — but the bin fills faster.

What do DIN 66399 P-4 and P-5 actually mean?

DIN 66399 is the international standard that grades shredders by how small the resulting particles are. P-4 and P-5 are the two levels that matter for ordinary business use. The HP OneShred CC models are P-4 cross-cut; the MC models are P-5 micro-cut, producing 2 × 12 mm particles. Higher is not automatically better — a P-5 machine fills its bin faster and typically takes fewer sheets per pass, so paying for security you do not need costs you throughput.

P-4
Confidential data. The standard level for commercial paperwork — invoices, contracts, HR letters, bank statements.
P-5
Highly confidential data. For documents whose disclosure would cause real harm — client records, payroll, medical and legal files.

How many sheets per pass do you actually need?

Sheet capacity is the number of pages a shredder takes in one go, and it is the single biggest factor in how long shredding takes. Feeding a stapled 12-page report into an 8-sheet machine means splitting it; a 15-sheet machine swallows it whole. As a rule of thumb: 8 sheets suits one person, 12–15 suits a small team, 18–24 suits a shared office machine that several people use daily. Every HP OneShred model destroys staples and paper clips, so you do not have to remove them first.

Can these shredders destroy credit cards and CDs?

Every HP OneShred model shreds credit cards, staples and paper clips alongside paper. The two micro-cut models — the OneShred 12MC and 16MC — additionally destroy CDs and DVDs. If you need to dispose of optical media, those are the two to look at.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what people ask before buying paper shredders in the UAE.

A cross-cut shredder cuts paper in two directions into confetti-sized particles and reaches security level P-4 under DIN 66399. A micro-cut shredder cuts the same sheet into much smaller particles — 2 × 12 mm on the HP OneShred MC models — reaching P-5. Cross-cut is right for everyday confidential business paperwork; micro-cut is for highly confidential documents such as client, payroll, medical or legal records.

The HP OneShred 12CC for most small offices: 12 sheets per pass at P-4 cross-cut security handles a normal day of invoices and correspondence. If your team shreds more, the OneShred 15CC adds capacity and a larger bin. For confidential client or HR data, choose the micro-cut OneShred 12MC instead.

Two models: the HP OneShred 12MC (12 sheets) and the HP OneShred 16MC (16 sheets). Both are rated P-5 under DIN 66399, cut into 2 × 12 mm particles, and are the only models in the range that also destroy CDs and DVDs.

The HP OneShred 24CC, which shreds up to 24 sheets per pass at P-4 cross-cut security into a ~34 L bin. It is designed for high-volume offices where several people use the same machine throughout the day.

Yes. Every HP OneShred model shreds paper, staples, paper clips and credit cards, so you do not need to remove staples before shredding. The micro-cut 12MC and 16MC also destroy CDs and DVDs.
